Eddie Hearn confirmed on April 27 that Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will finally meet in a “signed, sealed and delivered” bout.
The bout between two of the most popular British fighters of the modern era has been mooted since 2011 and it now looks certain to take place between the two former heavyweight champions.
The fighter known as The Gypsy King returned for the first time in more than 15 months with a win over 6ft 6in Russian Arslanbek Mahmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April, with Joshua announcing later that month that he would return to the ring for the first time in seven months against Christian Bringa.
Here’s what we know about Fury vs Joshua, including the date and location of the fight and what’s been said about the blockbuster showdown.
When will Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua face?
The elimination will take place during the last quarter of 2026, depending on Joshua’s victory over 35-year-old Albanian Bringa in July.
Joshua knocked out rookie Jake Paul – better known as a YouTuber – in Miami in December. Later that month, two members of the Londoner’s team were killed when Joshua’s driver collided with a car in Nigeria.
“It’s a return to fighting after some serious injuries and a very traumatic period in his life,” Hearn, Joshua’s promoter and head of Matchroom Boxing, said. EFL TV On April 24th.
“We wouldn’t get into a fight like this unless we signed to fight Tyson Fury. We have to be 100% physically and mentally ready when we fight Tyson Fury.”
Where will Fury vs Joshua take place?
Hearn says the contest will be “100%” held in London, with Wembley the biggest potential venue, unless Joshua’s side agree new terms.
There has been speculation that Turki Al-Sheikh, the head of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority who arranged the fight, could organize the contest in Las Vegas.
UFC president and Zuffa Boxing president Dana White – Hearn’s new boxing rival – claimed he would promote the bout and knew its history and location.
“We have a great relationship with Turki Al-Sheikh,” Hearn said. BBC Sport In June. “If he came to me and said ‘I want to fight in America for this reason’ we would all be very disappointed because I don’t think there is a person on the planet who doesn’t think this fight should take place in the UK.
“But he pays the bill, and the bill is high. So you have to find a way to make it work. If they want to change anything in the contract, we have to renegotiate the contract and start over.”
“The contract clearly states that Dana White and Zova Boxing, or anyone associated, cannot be promoters of this event.
“The only way Dana can be on the show is if we let him. And that’s not really how I feel right now.”
Joshua limited the attendance capacity for a British brawl when Daniel Dubois knocked out the fighter known as AJ at the National Stadium in September 2024.
Joshua has had two title bouts and two non-title bouts in Saudi Arabia, with Fury having three consecutive bouts between 2023 and 2024, including a defeat to Oleksandr Usyk for the WBC, WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO and The Ring belts.
“The battle will end where His Excellency wants it,” Hearn accepted when the original announcement was made.
“It could be in Timbuktu. Me and AJ, Tyson Fury, will have a contract where His Excellency finances the fight.
“It’s up to him to decide where it is. He also wants to make history. He’s not going to put it in a random place.
“He wants to convey to the fans what it is, which is the biggest fight in the history of our country… I don’t pay the bills, so I can’t give you the answer (on the court).”
Hearn appeared to indicate that Croke Park in Dublin was not an option, but said that talks had been held previously about the fighting there.
Two of the last three fights in Saudi Arabia involving Joshua or Fury were held in December. Joshua also beat Andy Ruiz Jr there in December 2019.

Hearn said Matchroom will organize the fight with the Entertainment Authority’s Riyadh Season events.
Tickets for Joshua’s fight with Dubois went on sale just under three months before the event.

The most lucrative event in British boxing history rests on Joshua, who has lost four of his last nine fights against established boxers, avoiding an upset against Bringa, who has won all 20 of his wins by knockout and suffered his only career defeat on points.
“The good news is that if we had a fight like this, we would have signed a Tyson Fury fight,” Hearn said.
“All you have to do is bite your nails in July for 36 minutes or less, and you will not have the fight of the century, but the fight of all time.”

Fury won his first 35 bouts, defeating Hall of Fame star Wladimir Klitschko in his 25th to win the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO and The Ring titles.
Now 37, he challenged Deontay Wilder for the WBC belt in the 2018 draw, winning the title and defending it in back-to-back bouts against the American in 2021 and 2022.
These defeats to Usyk mean that Fury does not currently have a title shot.
Joshua was one of the most decorated names in the history of British boxing, and a super heavyweight Olympic He captured gold in 2012 and had won 28 of his previous 32 bouts, leading to justified fears that his feud with Paul would prove a disproportionate mismatch.
Joshua knocked out Klitschko at Wembley Stadium to begin the first of two reigns as unified world heavyweight champion, between 2017-19 and 2019-2021.
He lost consecutive matches to Usyk in 2021 and 2022, then achieved four consecutive victories against opponents of questionable quality before he was suspended. By DuBois.
