South African football star Jayden Adams‘long-time partner, Aqueelah AdendorfShe is grateful for the support she received after his sudden death at the age of 25.
“Thank you everyone for your kind condolences and messages of support,” Adendorf wrote on her Instagram Stories on Saturday, July 11. “They really mean a lot to me and (our daughter) Allaïa during this difficult time.”
She continued: “I welcome every message, even if I haven’t replied yet. I will get back to everyone as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding and kindness.”
The previous Saturday it was announced that Adams died just weeks after his appearance at the 2026 World Cup.

“Death has cruelly stolen one of us. It has robbed our nation of a remarkable footballer, but it will never take away the legacy that Jayden Adams leaves behind,” the South African Football Players Union wrote in a statement. “His humility, his exceptional talent and the pride with which he represented South Africa will be remembered forever.”
A cause of death has not been publicly announced. Adams leaves behind Adendorf and their five-year-old daughter.
“There are no words to describe the pain I feel. 💔“, Adendorff wrote via Instagram A few hours later she broke her silence about the tragedy. “Rest in peace, my love. Thank you for every memory, every laugh, every hug and every moment together. You were not only the love of my life, but also my biggest supporter and my best friend.”
She continued, “A part of my heart remains with you, and I will carry your love with me forever. Until we meet again, I will miss you every day. Rest easy, my angel. I love you always and forever.” 🕊️❤️.”
Months earlier, Adendorf Adams publicly honored for inclusion in South Africa’s World Cup team.
“Seeing you achieve something so big filled my heart with so much pride. Despite hard work, sacrifices, early mornings, disappointments and moments no one saw – you kept going, stayed disciplined and trusted God,” she wrote on Instagram in May. “I don’t think you realize how inspiring you are. You deserve every single moment of this because I saw how much you worked for it.”
She concluded, “No matter what challenge you faced, you never gave up on your dream and that alone makes me so proud to stand by your side and support you through it all. No matter how far this journey takes you, just know that I will always be your biggest supporter, loudest cheerleader and safest place.” ❤️.”
Despite South Africa’s early exit from the tournament, FIFA honored Adams during the quarter-final match between England and Norway on Saturday a solemn moment of silence.
