Teddy swims talks about how fatherhood has changed his outlook on life.
“Being present in so many situations has always been more important, you know? I think the most important thing for me now is to be where my feet are,” the 33-year-old “Mr. Know It All” singer shares exclusively Us weekly while promoting his partnership with White claw. “There is so much more intention in every step I take and in the things I do.”
Swims welcomed his 13-month-old son Theodore with his ex-girlfriend Raiche Wright in June 2025. Earlier this month, Swims announced that he and Wright had split while releasing his new song “Break Up in Reverse.”
The musician shares that he knows he won’t be able to be there for all of his son’s milestones, so he’s eager to immerse himself in these special moments when he can.

“I feel like in a lot of ways I’m the same as I was a year ago. And he’s completely changing every day,” Swims remembers. “So when you see this passage of time… how tiny time is and how finite it is… it’s such a scary, crazy thing.”
Swims adds that his new philosophy makes him appreciate the little moments with his son.
“There are so many times where I sit with him and he doesn’t do anything, and that’s the most productive thing I can do, just give my time and not be on the phone, but just be there,” he explains. “I look at him when I’m talking to him, and he just wants you to look him in the eyes. He just wants you to be there and see what he’s doing, and he looks back over his shoulder when he’s doing whatever, and it’s just like, ‘Are you watching?’ And that has become the most important thing for me.”
Swims admits that he knows it might sound “cheesy” to feel this way, but he really wants to “make time count” and “celebrate those little victories.”
“My son has done so much of this for me to just slow down and give me the time I need,” he shares Usand points out that since people often post their highlight reels online, it can be easy to feel like everyone is on top of everything. “I think in the age of social media…you’re constantly comparing yourself to other people and their accomplishments or the fake life they portray, that everything is always good and wonderful. It can really take a toll on you.”
On days when Swims is on the road and can’t be physically with his son, the “Bad Dreams” singer says he uses a video call to spend time with his little one.
“I miss him, but I’m on FaceTime with him every day I can,” he says Us. “In a lot of these places, we’re about five hours apart. I catch him eating his breakfast, lunch and dinner, just trying to jump in and see him. With a one-year-old, you might get a minute and a half of his attention and he’s busy doing something else, but at least he’s excited to see me.”
Swims admits he knows others in his scenario don’t have the luxury of checking in with their families on a daily basis.
“There are people who do my job who can’t talk to their children or see them at all, you know, so I’m very grateful that we can be face-to-face in some ways,” he emphasizes.

“I’m really excited about the floaty, it’s really cool,” says Swims Us. “He’s got a big bear with a moustache, he’s got a cooler that you can put his white claws in, something to stick them in when they’re already open, a couple of cup holders of course, and there’s also this waterproof Bluetooth speaker in there so you know he’s got everything you need for the hangers, for the hangers for the pool. I guess you can stick him in the bathtub if you want.”
Swims adds that the opportunity to work with White Claw was a perfect fit because he enjoys the little moments with his loved ones.
“White Claw is like the perfect situation because it’s all about just being where your feet are,” he explains. “Being with these people and making that time so valuable, because you know, time is just the thing, especially watching this little creature grow so quickly.”
