“We’re going to have some tough days ahead of us, but nothing like this is going to happen,” Steve’s eldest son said. Steven McBee Jr.he told his family on the Monday, July 20, episode of the Bravo series as they drove together from Missouri to South Dakota and watched their father begin his sentence at FPC Yankton.
Steve’s ex-wife, Kristi McBee – with whom he has four sons – was there to support her children during the five-hour journey. (The episode was filmed in December 2025.)
“We took the bus because we all wanted to spend as much time together as possible,” she told the cameras as footage of the large bus driving through snowy terrain flashed across the screen.
As the camera panned around the bus, Steve’s sons Steven, 33, could be seen. Jesse, Cole And Brayden McBeeeveryone tried to keep their emotions in check. However, it was clear that they all felt the sadness of the day, including Jesse’s wife. Alli McBeewho had swollen eyes from crying.
In the background Blues Saraceno’s song from 2013 “Carry me back home“ played and set the tone for the melancholic journey.
“Good night my love, still your worried heart / Keep me in your prayers and we will never be apart,” the American musician sang while playing the guitar.
Kristi could be seen wiping tears from her eyes as a sign that read “Federal Prison Camp” appeared, telling everyone that she was “dreading this moment.”
Kristi – who divorced Steve in 2019 after 28 years of marriage amid his affair with Steve Galyna Saltkovska – then said to her boys and their significant others: “It’s going to be okay.”
“My dad has always been our greatest hope. Somehow the person that holds us together and gives us confidence in every situation,” Jesse revealed during a confessional. “No matter what we do, no matter what we say, we can’t change what’s happening. I think that’s the hardest part.”
Steve, who was out of the picture on the bus, tried to lighten the mood by checking on Cole’s fiancée. Kacie Addison – the only person at that point who didn’t start crying.
“Kacie, are you okay?” Steve, 54, asked, to which she nodded. “She is the rock here,” said the patriarch.

Bryan Steffy/BravoKacie – who is pregnant with Cole’s second child – joked and told her future father-in-law: “I’m ready to get rid of you.”
The comment broke the tension on the bus and everyone laughed a little – but much needed.
“That’s why I love you,” Steve told her before leaving the bus and walking alone into the snow.
Steve yelled back, “Bye, baby,” and appeared to be talking to his granddaughters Blair and Summer, both of whom were less than a year old when he reported to prison.

“I love you, dad,” Steven, 33, said as he and Cole began to cry in the vehicle.
As Steve got off the bus, baby Blair started crying and the rest of the group huddled at the window to watch him walk towards the gate.
Steve wore a green hoodie, jeans, sneakers and what looked like a Bible as he left his family to serve his sentence.
“Seeing him go to prison alone is one of the three hardest days of my life,” Steven later told the cameras. “I don’t want to say it’s broken our spirit, but we’re on the verge of getting there.”

Courtesy of YouTube/USA NetworkSteve went to prison on December 1, 2025 after pleading guilty to one count of crop insurance fraud in November 2024. In October 2025, he was sentenced to two years in prison and two years of supervised release.
Steve, the founder of McBee Farms & Cattle Co., was ordered to pay $4 million in restitution and a $3 million fine.
Less than a year into his prison sentence, Steven told exclusively Us that his father is “now less than two months old before he gets out.”
Steven announced on Thursday, July 16, that Steve “was able to be accepted into a program that will allow him to reduce the time served,” but when he is released later this year, he will “remain home for four to six months.”
