I’ve already humiliated myself trying to describe the sensory enormity that is Cicadamata, Flowergarden’s new moving shooter with awkward title punctuation, so instead of writing additional sentences like “this game is like drinking the Northern Lights” (OK, one more) or “this game is like surfing Niagara Falls during a freak rain of potassium tablets” (enough!), I’ll just transcribe the latest trailer.
Chklpewedewe chklpewedewe wrrrr DAN wrrrrr chklpewedewe DAN chklpewedewe DUNCH DUNCH DUNCH DU-DUNCH DUNCH DUNCH DUNCH DUNCH wrblwrblwrblwrbl… Argh, I can’t quite pin down the exact acoustics of the game’s crisp shotgun scream. All I know is that it’s up there with the telekinetic scream in Control as one of my current favorite video game sounds.
Why are you still reading this nonsense? You could play Cicadamata”. I’m not sure we’ll have time for a full review, as we have to exorcise Geoff Keighley again next week, but I played the demo and the full game seems very unlikely to disappoint. In particular, if you like the aesthetic of nu-Marathon but wish it was a fizzy time attack game rather than a pull shooter, you might like this.
