NeNe Leakes stands up for his fellow housewife Kim Zolciak surrounded by her teenage son Kroy “KJ” Biermann Jr.‘s arrest on allegations of sexual assault and having sex with an underage female relative.
“Everyone’s parenting is different,” said Leakes, 58 TMZ on Tuesday, September 15th. “As a mother, I’m just sure she’s not feeling well. We texted together, that’s all.”
Leakes, who was part of the original cast of The Real Housewives of Atlanta with Zolciak, 48, adding that she had no message for online haters who have publicly speculated about the allegations against 15-year-old KJ.
Leakes recently reported on how Zolciak shares KJ with a former NFL player Kroy BiermannShe is fighting charges against her son for aggravated child abuse, aggravated sexual assault, aggravated sodomy, deprivation of liberty and three counts of sexual assault against a child under 16 years of age. (Us confirmed earlier this month that KJ was released on $200,000 bail, subject to 24 hours of house arrest, ahead of his Oct. 14 arraignment.

“I just called her, wanted to know how she was doing and congratulated her on (her daughter). Brielle (Biermann) and making sure she’s clear about what her son is struggling with – I know this is a difficult time and I know she’s not okay,” Leakes said during an appearance on the Friday, September 11, episode of “The Big Tigger Morning Show.” (Zolciak also has son Kash, 14, and twins Kaia and Kane, 12, with Kroy, 41. She welcomed daughters Brielle, 29, and Ariana, 24, from previous relationships.)
Leakes continued, “I wanted to reach out. And I did, okay? I reach out to a lot of these girls. We just approach each other. But we’re not in touch on a daily basis.”

Presley Ann/Getty Images for The Abbey West HollywoodZolciak previously released a statement about this Us on August 21 about KJ’s arrest. “The allegations made against my son are nothing short of reckless and deeply disturbing,” she wrote at the time. “He categorically denies ever having anything to do with this woman or engaging in the behavior she alleged. My son voluntarily took and passed a lie detector test based on these allegations. Additionally, an investigation was conducted and no DNA from my son was found.”
According to the deputy district attorney Caitlin McGillicuddyKJ’s arrest led to investigators discovering phone recordings showing him and an unidentified family member under the age of 12 engaging in sexual activity. Prosecutors claimed authorities also allegedly found evidence of “multiple encounters” in which KJ used “predatory (and) derogatory” language toward the victim.
