Alexander Isak says joining Liverpool from Newcastle last summer was an “easy decision” despite the difficult circumstances surrounding his move.
The Swedish striker completed a British record £125m transfer to Anfield on deadline day in September 2025 after missing the pre-season.
Isak had previously claimed that promises made to him at Newcastle had been “broken”, but insisted he has never regretted his decision to leave the club.
“Liverpool is a big club and everything about the club makes that absolutely clear,” Isak told BBC Sport.
“And the club’s ambition and desire to bring me in as well. He was a big part of that.”
The 26-year-old struggled to score goals during his first season at Liverpool, and suffered a broken leg that kept him out of action from December until April.
Asked whether he regretted this step during that period, Issac said: “No, never. I would never think that way.”

Isak looks up after injury
Isak made just 22 appearances for Liverpool last season, playing 1,032 minutes in total, but has already equaled his previous record. Premier League Three goals after just four games this season.
He says the experience of dealing with his long-term injury has helped him focus on the future rather than dwelling on what happened.
“(The leg break) was tough. Anyone who’s been through a long-term injury will know that,” Isaac said.
“But on the other hand, when you’re in a good place and when you feel good, you don’t really tend to look back because it’s not really doing you any good.
“So I’m looking forward and feeling optimistic and excited about the season and what it can bring us.”
The World Cup gave Isaac a boost at the right time

Isak scored one goal and provided three assists as Sweden reached the last 32 of the World Cup before being eliminated by France.
The tournament also gave him the opportunity to build his fitness and regain his rhythm after a frustrating season at club level.
“Playing for your country in the World Cup is a dream for most people,” Issac said.
“With the injuries last season, the World Cup was perfect. I had that period where I could play and gain rhythm and fitness.
“On top of that, it was a massive experience, so it was the perfect thing to do and get back here for pre-season and start the season.”
