Rubio says during the visit that Iceland is a “critical outpost” for security G trends

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Tuesday that Iceland has long been a “critical location” for security during a visit to the island, as his country seeks to strengthen American influence in the Arctic region. His trip comes after US President Donald Trump upset the balance of power in the region by threatening to buy or annex Greenland. The United States signed a security agreement with Denmark and Greenland in late September that will allow Washington to establish two new military bases.
