Cyberpunk 2077’s Edgerunners 2 update adds two new quests, dual sidearm wielding, and the ability to customize your mantis blades G Trends

A robust new Cyberpunk 2077 update arrives tomorrow, October 22, hot on the heels of the second series of the Cyberpunk Edgerunners anime, which released earlier this week. It’s called Update 2.5 and it features an Edgerunners 2-themed quest as well as a bunch of other additions.

As indicated in the patch notesCD Projekt Red and co-developers Virtuos simply aren’t capable of delivering a Cyberpunk update that only adds a few things. They either go hard or go home, so there’s a full-fledged Edgerunners 2 prequel quest called Clampdown that features material from the anime, as well as a new radio station featuring tracks from Edgerunners 1 and 2.

There is also a new quest not specifically related to the anime. Dubbed Welcome to Paradise, it introduces you to the past and traditions of Night City via lectures projected by the metropolis’s founder, Richard Night, with a mystery of sorts to solve along the way. Honestly, as someone who likes to just walk around or drive around when I jump into Cyberpunk, this might be the part of this patch I’m most excited about.

This is far from being the case. Taking a new perk called Double Trouble will allow you to wield pistols and revolvers. This is a feature limited to power sidearms, so there will be no need to equip twin katanas or find a way to graft two assault rifles onto your arms. This would have been a bit too overpowered to live in the game without a ton of effort from the developers to somehow balance the double damage it would offer, according to Paweł Sasko.

Another addition is something you’ll be able to use regardless of what weapons you specialize in, assuming you’re not a plain Jane with no tech stuck in your skin. Manual cyberware can now be visually customized from five new providers called glamdocs. At first glance, they are ripperdocs who specialize in creating gorilla arms and projectile launchers rather than installing the base version of the technology. So you’ll still need to visit ripperdocs as usual, with glamdocs only offering a total of 40 alternate looks for cyberware that allow them to resemble the variants worn by people from various corps and gangs in Night City. There’s also color customization to enhance personal flavor that you can add, for example, to a pair of Arasaka-themed manicure blades.

Cross-platform modding support is also coming, which is bigger news for console gamers than it is for us PC users, although it will make modding the game easier if you’re not stuck for hours scrolling on the Nexus.

That’s not everything that’s included in the update, so be sure to check out the full notes if you want to be up to date with everything that’s coming when it releases tomorrow. Will this end up being the last update to the game that CD Projekt Red has looked like it’s been trying to wean itself off adding for years at this point? Probably not. I’m certainly not complaining.
