The popular franchise, which premiered in 2018, introduced viewers to the fictional Dutton family, who own the largest ranch in Montana. While some viewers came for Kevin Costner’s portrayal of family patriarch John Dutton – and stayed for the show’s other stars, including Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Gil Birmingham And Cole Hauser – others were drawn to the dramatic storylines and surprising twists.
Sheridan has expanded its television universe to include original shows including Landman, Mayor of Kingstown, Lioness And Tulsa King. He has also offered prequel shows Yellowstonestarting with 1883 and later 1923.
In front of the flagship Yellowstone The series came to an end, ViacomCBS president Chris McCarthy confirmed in 2023 that another spin-off will star Matthew McConaughey was in progress. However, a year later, the McConaughey spinoff appeared to be dead and was replaced by another show titled The Madison.

Some Yellowstone However, fans are still waiting for the previously accused 6666 spin-off that was supposed to follow Jimmy Hurdstrom (Jefferson White) during his time at the Four Sixes Ranch in Texas.
“Founded when the Comanches still ruled West Texas, no ranch in America is more deeply rooted in the history of the West than 6666,” reads the official series description. “The 6666 is still in operation as it was two centuries ago and spans an entire county. It is the place where the rule of law and the laws of nature merge, a place where the most dangerous thing you do is the next one. … The 6666 is synonymous with the relentless pursuit of breeding the best horses and livestock in the world and, ultimately, where world-class cowboys are born and made.”
Unfortunately the last update is over 6666 came in 2022 when it was announced that the show would air on Paramount Network instead of Paramount+. Since then, there have been other recent updates regarding a Beth and Rip series and a possible prequel with the title 1944Fans have taken the public silence on 6666 as a sign that production will not move forward. Yellowstone Director Christina Vorospreviously told TV Insider that working with Sheridan may have involved long breaks between projects.
“We don’t know what the story is until we have the scripts. And when the time comes to tell the story, there will be a script in my inbox,” she said of the story in a 2024 interview Yellowstone Series finale. “And I’ll really like to saddle up.”
She continued, “I honestly don’t know how Taylor wants to tell what stories he wants to tell and when (like 6666 and 1944). I think he’s closed a lot of doors in Yellowstone this season. There are obviously characters we won’t see again because they’ve been shipped off. But I think he’s left some doors open, and some doors I can’t tell if they’re closed or not yet. But we’ll know as we walk through them.”
