Liverpool ended their pre-season campaign today with two friendly matches against Cesc Fabregas’s Como.
The Merseyside club face the Italian side for the first time at 11.30am – a 35-and-a-half-minute match behind closed doors at the AXA Training Center – before the second match takes place this evening at 6pm in front of fans at Anfield.
The two matches will enable new Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola to take a look at all of his squad’s players ahead of next week’s Premier League opener against Newcastle.
Como arrives on the back of another encouraging performance in midweek when they drew 1-1 with Arsenal before losing on penalties.
Fabregas recorded two wins and three draws over the summer, with his side scoring and conceding in every friendly match.

Liverpool and Como match statistics
- Liverpool’s only defeat during the 2025/26 pre-season was against an Italian side, losing 4-2 to AC Milan in Cologne, with Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Jacobo scoring for the Reds.
- Szoboszlai’s 88th-minute penalty gave them victory in their only competitive meeting with an Italian club last season, a 1-0 win over Inter during the round-robin stage of the Champions League.

- Their draw with Arsenal was Cuomo’s first away friendly of the 2026/27 season, having played his previous four home friendlies averaging more than three goals per game.
- They traded the lead with Paris in a 2-2 draw, came from behind to beat Al-Ula 3-1 and lost on penalties after a 1-1 draw with Villarreal in July, then shared three goals inside the first 12 minutes with Famalicao on their way to a 3-2 win.
- Como had the third-best away record in Serie A last season, with only Inter and Milan picking up more points and winning more games on the road.
- Fabregas won the FA Cup in 2005 and reached the Champions League final in 2006 and the UEFA Cup in 2007 during his time as a midfielder at Arsenal between 2003 and 2011.
