Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, will reportedly return to Britain this month, six years after they left their royal duties and moved to the United States.
The couple intends to move from the United States to a private, non-royal residence outside London. According to the BBC.
Harry and Meghan plan to keep their home in Montecito, California, and their property in Portugal when they return to the UK for an extended stay starting this fall, the Associated Press reports.
The couple’s children, seven-year-old Prince Archie and five-year-old Princess Lilibet, have also reportedly registered to start at a British school in September.
King Charles III was informed of the move on Sunday, and there are no current plans for Harry or Meghan to resume their roles as senior royals, the BBC reports.
Harry and Meghan gave up their royal duties and moved to California more than six years ago, securing lucrative contracts with Netflix and Spotify with their media company, Archewell Productions.

Although relations with the rest of the royal family have been strained since then, Harry recently expressed interest in a reconciliation so he can spend more time with his father, King Charles, who is being treated for an unknown type of cancer.
Buckingham Palace confirmed that Harry and Meghan visited the United Kingdom last month, where they met with King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove House, a country estate west of London.
The Duke of Sussex has arrived home to attend a number of charity events.
Harry’s visit also coincided with his recent loss of his lawsuit as he sought to tame the British tabloids. A judge has ruled that he failed to prove his claims of invasion of privacy against the publisher of the Daily Mail.
Harry has made public comments about his hope of reconciling with his family, telling the BBC last year: “I would love to reconcile with my family. There is no point in continuing to fight anymore.”
“There were many disagreements between me and some members of my family,” he said, adding that he now “forgives” them.
“Life is precious. I don’t know how much time my father has left,” he said, referring to King Charles and his cancer diagnosis in 2024. “He won’t talk to me because of these security matters, but it would be nice if we could reconcile.”
Harry blamed the palace for stripping him of his police protection detail during his visits to the UK, and said that was the “core” of the family feud.
Harry told the BBC that his security issues “can be resolved” through his 77-year-old father.
“There’s a lot of control and power in my father’s hands,” Harry told the outlet.
“Ultimately, this whole thing can be resolved through him. Not necessarily by intervening, but by stepping aside and letting the experts do what is necessary.”
Harry also spoke about whether he would one day return to the UK with his family, considering he lost the appeal and will have to ensure his personal safety, along with his wife and their two young children.
“I cannot see a world where I would bring my wife and children back to the UK at this stage,” he said.
“I love my country, I always have, despite what some people in that country have done… and I think it’s really sad that I won’t be able to show my children my country.”
