Hong Kong’s Chinese Medicine Hospital is set to launch 24-hour inpatient services in December, the first of its kind in the city, and patients will be charged HK$980 (US$125) per day for subsidized care, more than three times the fees at public hospitals.
TThe city’s first dedicated TCM hospital will also launch 10 additional special disease programs this year to help treat conditions such as eczema and Parkinson’s disease.
The hospital, which opened last December in Cong Kwan O, aims to provide services for the most complex cases under a model that features Chinese medicine as the primary approach, integrated with Western medicine.
The expansion of services, announced on Tuesday, includes offering 24-hour inpatient services starting December 11.
The hospital will provide 93 inpatient beds – consisting of 60 government-subsidized beds and 33 non-subsidized beds – in addition to 20 beds under the Clinical Trials and Research Center and two high dependency beds.
The subsidized inpatient option will cost HK$980 per day – a fixed, all-inclusive package price that covers all treatment-related services, such as room fees, visits to registered practitioners, Chinese medicine interventions, tests, and medications.
