The goal, according to the team, is to create something that seems “whimsical” on the surface, but is grounded in authentic human emotion and important themes.
In terms of gameplay, Annihilated features turn-based card battles that require both strategic thinking and keen reflexes. A weapon breakage system allows players to voluntarily destroy their equipment for temporary combat buffs, while a curse point mechanic rewards defeats and weapon breakages with resources that can be spent on items, stat boosts, or surviving the game’s deadly roulettes. The dungeon itself is presented as the antagonist, filled with hidden monsters, dwindling supplies, and instant death traps.
