M. RECORDS demo is now available on Steam G Trends

Wired Productions and developer Glee-Cheese have launched the first public demo of MR. RECORDS on Steam, giving players their first look at what could be one of the most distinctive rhythm games of the year to come. Set in a record store owned by an old dreamer named George, the game combines comfortable store management with a dynamic, music-focused platform in a way that’s unlike anything else on the market right now.

The demo arrives ahead of Steam Next Fest in October and covers the first part of George’s story, including his preparations to turn a lifelong dream into a functioning record store. During the day, players manage the store, meeting customers and helping them find the right disc. As night falls, things take a more surreal turn, as each record George plays becomes a fully playable rhythm level set in dream worlds shaped by his memories and imagination. With over 40 handcrafted levels planned for the full game, covering styles ranging from funk and progressive rock to hip-hop, electro and ’80s pop, the scope seems ambitious for a title of this genre.

Alongside the demo launch, we learn that MR. RECORDS is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, expanding on the previously announced PC and Nintendo Switch 2 versions. This is a welcome confirmation for console players who might have been following the game’s progress from the sidelines. The full version will include a deeper store management layer, where knowing individual records and making the right recommendations to customers will unlock new inventory and shape the direction of George’s small business. There’s also a room above the shop where players can review their memories, track their progress, and take calls between their musical adventures.

Which means that MR. RECORDS stands out on paper for its emotional ambition. This isn’t a game solely focused on taking notes over time, but rather a game built around themes of regret, memory, lost love, and the idea that it’s never too late to start living the life you’ve always wanted. The characters carry hidden stories, some songs are described as happy and others would reveal darker corners of George’s past. In addition to the main rhythm gameplay, the game features battles, surreal mini-games, chase sequences, environmental changes, and side activities involving George’s dog, Buzz, suggesting that the developers want to keep things fresh throughout the runtime.
