Brendy (RPS in peace) liked Keep Driving. Nic (RPS in peace) liked Keep Driving. I (RPS still alive) liked Keep Driving. Julian (currently boss of the RPS) loved Keep Driving. You, the reader, should play the road trip RPG Keep Driving if you haven’t already. A good excuse to do so is the fact that it will get official mod support via the Steam Workshop on September 28.
“Thanks to Steam Workshop, you can finally customize your own adventures to create the ultimate road trip,” developers YCJY Games wrote in a statement. Steam post who also revealed that the debut of their console game was near. “We’re initially releasing this as a beta update to take into account any feedback you might have, so you’ll need to opt into a specific Steam branch before we’re ready to fully release it. We’ll share more on how to access it and the full patch notes when the time comes.”
The post seems to encourage people to modify a rideable horse in Keep Driving, to replace the usual car or truck that transports its young protagonist from place to place, engaging in turn-based battles with road hazards as they go. Personally, I would replace the car with a friend who would lend you a piggyback, with the person behind the wheel swapping at each rest stop. I don’t know where all the junk you need to survive in Keep Driving would go, maybe REALLY BIG backpacks.
If you need convincing as to why you should try Keep Driving, here’s an excerpt from Brendy’s review:
It’s a hypnotic game of picking up hitchhikers and battling tailgaters, pixel art driving with chunky, tactile buttons and perfectly tailored sound effects fueled as much by nostalgia as gasoline. At first I thought it was too vague and open-ended to elicit deep feelings. But then I had to sell my guitar for half a tank of gas, just to visit my dying grandmother. Man, this is a game that goes places.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a huge guitar case to try and fit into a trunk full of beer, pizza, and handy tool boxes.
