I spent most of last Saturday lying in a hotel room in Baku, the muscles in both legs reduced to pieces of useless meat by the decision to walk down a mountain when there was a perfectly good funicular. right there. May this weekend be more fruitful and less ruined by the stupidity of trying to please a step counter who really only cares about where his next battery charge is coming from. Ruinous silicone bastard.

After writing about Star Wars: Zero Company this week, I’m craving a tactical RPG of some sort. Maybe I’ll check out that Troubleshooter: Abandoned Children game you all love so much, or maybe I’ll launch Othercide on the Switch (assuming the interface, which I remember being tortuous on PS4, transfers easily to the smaller screen). Beyond that, I just bought a new volume of poetry, Aaron Kent’s Angels the size of a house.

This weekend I’ll either play through Black Flag Resynced or maybe go back to Lords of the Fallen, which was put on the back burner after I decided to be a pirate for a while rather than an emo goth knight wandering a depressing world where everything has gone to shit. Speaking of post-apocalyptic worlds, there is also another secret game along these lines that I will be launching soon for guide preparation. Look at the August release schedule for possible clues, I say!

I slapped Replaced on my Steam Deck last week for the plane ride before muscle death, then spent the entire flight on Silksong instead. What can I say, I can’t hear enough gibberish about bugs. But I should play Replaced more.

I thought I could finally try Assassin’s Creed Rogue. It’s the follow-up entry to the recently resynched Black Flag and attempts to build on the naval battles I loved in that game, but never got around to trying it. It’s not unique in this regard, I’ve missed a number of AC entries in the years since Black Flag, particularly Valhalla, Origins and Syndicate. I also really should finish the remastered version of Assassin’s Creed 3 after starting it about half a decade ago. God, there are so many games where people in hoodies jump around.
Julian, Dion and Callum don’t recognize the weekend’s pretension at the end of the week.
