Another horribly hot Saturday, another wedding to attend. I’m all for love, but could we please postpone it for a cooler day of the year? Luckily this one is a London wedding and it is possible to get to and from it by tube. However, traveling in a hot carriage and not arriving looking like a boiled Sauveloy stuffed into a too-small suit will be a challenge.
Enough about this unsightly business. Let us enjoy the beauty of video games. This is what we are playing this weekend.

This weekend I’m playing: Tennocon, Digital Extremes’ annual Warframe (and now, Soulframe) expo. There will be hordes of cosplayers, tsunamis of glow sticks and lots of talk about operators, drifters and railjacks. I will mainly hide in the “Zen room”. If someone wearing a fancy mecha hat comes near me, I will scream and scream and scream.

I started a new game of Endless Legend 2 now that it’s in a better state. Well, I say “a” new game, it’s more like 3 or 4 games in a row, because I lose very quickly. The higher difficulties kick me in the ass repeatedly, but I don’t want to tone it down yet. The problem isn’t with the opponents, it’s that I haven’t yet figured out the pace of the game and how to keep your armies safe during those anarchic early turns where anything goes and you’re attacked from all directions. It’s still a lot of fun, even in this recursive ass-kicking stage.

It’s my turn to play the Being Coy About Secret Review game, unfortunately. But I’ll meet you halfway by trying to introduce a bit of Silksong.

Last weekend I drank enough rum that my liver was probably fried and I deafened myself with cannon fire. This weekend I think I’ll recover from this noisy debauchery by picking up a game of Esoteric Ebb that I started just before Black Flag Resynced came into port.

We opened the door to Callum’s room and I was greeted by the smell of the ocean, a strange dappled light like that of the moon, and a curly half-Wurly.

I’ll be blasting my way through the weekend with some Black Flag Resynced. I like this one a lot more than last year’s Shadows, which was the first Assassin’s Creed game I played. (The time I spent watching my roommate run while Ezio was back at college doesn’t count, does it?) All the pirate stuff is good, Edward is a decent protagonist, and I particularly like the fact that there are no problems at the start of the game as opposed to Shadows’ incessant barrage of cutscenes revolving around two not-so-interesting characters; sorry Yasuke and Naoe.

As I announced in the header of my supporter message, I am currently familiarizing myself with Frosthaven. Is this an attempt to exercise my editing powers and counter-program a heatwave or am I preparing for an interview with Julian Gollop? Only time (and embargo restrictions) will tell.
Since my first hours of reading the turn-based strategy game’s prologue, I have very slowly begun to understand its unusual card system. Each turn, for each character in your party, you must choose two cards, each of which can be played in multiple ways. That’s a lot to keep in mind when planning what you’ll do during your turn, especially when turn order is based on a card’s initiative scores, so there’s a good chance your target will have moved when it’s your turn. I win battles but I still don’t think I’m making intelligent decisions. Again.
