“You’ve just started The Bachelorette. I don’t know how many years they’d been at it, and I was newly divorced,” McCarthy, 53, recalled on iHeartRadio’s Wednesday, July 15, episode of “Bachelor Happy Hour.” Podcast. “I called my agent and said, ‘I want you to call her and I want you to introduce me as the Bachelorette. I want you to tell them Jenny McCarthy is from MTV’s.’ singled out, The number one dating show of all time, is single and wants to be on the show now.”
McCarthy, the famous host Singled out was married to the director from 1995 to 1997 John Asher for six years until her divorce in 2005. The TV personality was already an avid viewer of Bachelor Nation and was hoping to meet The One on screen once she sorted out her divorce.
“I wasn’t afraid, but I was also genuinely looking for love. I thought, ‘I would be the best Bachelorette ever.’ And the show said, ‘We don’t want famous people on the show,'” claimed McCarthy, who shares 24-year-old son Evan with her ex-husband. “It would have been the ultimate Bachelor Nation season ever.”
Formal wear and flowers had no place when MTV entered dating shows. On “Singled Out” – which premiered on June 5, 1995 – 50 men and 50 women faced the task of being chosen by two “lonelyhearts” who were eliminated based on superficial categories (e.g. “wealth” or “legs”) and WTF stunts (one of the hopefuls imitated a cow giving birth!). She added: “I would have had so much fun with those guys. I would have made out with everyone. I would have been amazing on that show.”
McCarthy has since found love with Wahlberg, 56, and put her dream of handing out roses to bed. Despite her obvious rejection at the casting, the Masked singer The panelist remains a loyal franchise viewer.
“I’m a real Bachelor Nation girl, so I love it… because there’s a hope and an awkwardness, even though it’s on TV and things are polished, you can’t escape the awkwardness of the first meetings (and) the first dates,” McCarthy explained. “It’s obviously really cool to see egos come to life, there’s competition, there’s uncertainty, but there are also those who are confident. You can actually learn a lot from watching the show.”

As McCarthy continues to chime in Bachelor Seasons, she can’t help but feel like the franchise is missing a potentially lucrative spin-off idea.
“I feel like they’re kind of missing out on the celebrity version. They can literally call it the celebrity version of Bachelorette “Because I think they would do really, really well,” she explained. “They have different celebrity versions of everything else. Why would you (not) do the celebrity version of Bachelorette?” But her loss now because I’m happily married now.”
