Prime Minister Mark Carney said Canada has pledged $100 million in new aid to Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
The funding includes $80 million in humanitarian aid, while the remainder is development funding for security initiatives, including additional funding for a multi-year project to train Palestinian police.
Carney, who announced the funding on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, says the goal of this money is to help achieve a two-state solution.

Carney says Palestinians in Gaza are suffering “enormous human suffering” while Israelis face “existential threats from Hamas, Iran and its proxies.”
Ottawa has pledged to provide more than $600 million in aid to Palestinian civilians since the start of the war between Israel and Gaza in October 2023.
New documents presented to Parliament this week list the damage done to dozens of Canadian-funded aid projects by the Israeli military and settlers.
