The roar of aircraft engines and the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong International Airport’s Terminal 2 is a stark contrast to the deafening silence of the 11 Skies mall next door. A South China Morning Post reporter who traveled between the two places in early October found few visitors in the shopping mall, where the bright and airy environment of the airport terminal had been replaced by gloomy, stuffy, wood-paneled corridors and poor air conditioning amid the boiling atmosphere outside.
