Bayern Munich produced an impressive second-half display to thrash Bodø/Glimt 5-0 at the Allianz Arena and start their campaign strong. UEFA Champions League campaign.
The hosts felt frustrated in the first 45 minutes, despite dominating most of the match, as Bodo/Glimt goalkeeper Nikita Heikin made several important saves. Bayern also saw Joshua Kimmich hit the post from 25 yards as they reached the break level at 0-0.
However, the game changed almost immediately after half-time when Heiken was forced off due to injury. His replacement, Julian Fay Lund, was beaten just 78 seconds into the second half when Jamal Musiala put Bayern ahead.
Harry Kane was involved in the move, as the ball eventually fell to Musiala, who shot the ball excellently from a tight angle.
Bodo/Glimt responded with a period of possession but rarely threatened Manuel Neuer’s goal, and Bayern doubled their lead in the 61st minute.
Michael Olise fired a dangerous free-kick from the right and Kane rose to head the ball past Lund. This was Kane’s eighth consecutive Champions League appearance in which he has scored, putting him one goal short of Robert Lewandowski’s Bayern Munich record of nine goals.
Bayern then took complete control and added three goals in the last 13 minutes.
Alphonso Davies made it 3-0 in the 77th minute, curling a loose ball into the far corner from around 20 yards after Bodo/Glimt had failed to clear Olise’s corner kick.
Olise then produced a better result six minutes later. Lennart Karl fed the winger 25 yards from goal and Olise opened up his body before curling a left-footed shot into the far corner.
A miserable evening for the visitors got worse in the 87th minute when Odin Bjortoft was sent off for clipping Olise’s heel outside the penalty area.
Olise completed the scoring in stoppage time, taking advantage of poor possession before sliding into the penalty area and firing another left-footed shot beyond Lund.
