Fogpiercer is now available on PC, Steam and Game Pass G Trends

A post-apocalyptic world where your survival depends on the cars you choose and the cards you play? That’s the premise of Fogpiercer, the new roguelite deckbuilder from Hooded Horse and Slovak indie studio Mad Cookies Studio, which has now launched on PC via Steam, GOG and the Microsoft Store, and is also available via PC Game Pass.

Set in a frozen wasteland in the grip of an endless winter, Fogpiercer puts players in control of a train traversing a dangerous and branching map. The main loop involves optimizing your train loading, choosing the right carriages, and building a deck of action cards to fend off waves of enemies. These enemies can be diverted, harpooned, or kicked out, and with the right skills, seemingly sent flying into each other as well, which feels deeply satisfying.

Each game sees players face relentless bandit attacks while traveling through points of interest, delivering goods, and managing relationships with competing factions across two biomes. The pilot system adds another layer of strategic depth, with each pilot bringing unique abilities. Options include summoning ghostly units, triggering environmental hazards, and, perhaps most intriguing, manipulating time itself.

Mad Cookies Studio is a small team with an obvious sense of humor. Their studio biography states that their founding passion was for games, and later, trains, and that their first title Cardbob, released in 2023, was notably trainless. Fogpiercer marks a clear evolution for the studio, combining the desired mechanical depth with what appears to be a truly distinctive setting and combat system.

Fogpiercer is priced at £17.99 on PC and supports an impressive range of languages, including French, German, Spanish, Polish, Japanese, Korean, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and several others.
