During the Monday, July 13, episode of the series, Nathan caught a cold after unknowingly sleeping in a dirty bed for three days. It didn’t last until Genevieve Lillie told Cooper Dawson Who told it? Joe Bradley who informed his boss that Nathan had caught wind of the incident.
For his part, Luke expressed his frustration that Joe had told Nathan. The senior deckhand defended his decision by pointing out that it was a “health issue” that Nathan needed to be aware of. Nathan overheard their argument and interjected to confront Luke.
“I actually get mad the more I think about it. It’s so disrespectful,” Nathan retorted. “I’m not laughing. Should I go to Captain Sandy and tell her about it?”

As viewers saw earlier this season, Luke met with Gen in his shared cabin with Nathan. They went to Nathan’s bed and Luke finished making the boatswain’s sheets, which he didn’t tell Nathan. To make matters worse, Luke didn’t replace Nathan’s sheets and continued to let Nathan sleep in a dirty bed.
“It’s because Luke hasn’t said anything about it in three days,” Nathan said, explaining the “disrespectful” behavior. “He had the opportunity to tell me – and the fact that he didn’t tell me and went around and everyone else is talking about it. That’s what pisses me off.”
He continued, “It’s fucking rude because you disrespected me. So if you keep doing your job, it won’t end, bro. If you piss me off in the slightest, you’ll be (on your way out) with your bags packed.”
Luke was shocked at the prospect of being fired. “I can’t believe I could lose my job over something like this,” he added.
In the preview for next week’s episode, Nathan called Sandy’s attention to what happened, saying: “I wish I’d never heard that. This goes beyond all limits. This is so disrespectful.”

Joe recently commented on the drama before it escalated further on screen.
“It’s really a safety issue and (an issue) with cleanliness and hygiene,” he told Us Weekly exclusively earlier this month. “Because it’s literally in a contract.”
Joe noted that it’s “possible that someone could get fired for this,” adding, “In terms of what you sign in your contract and for hygiene reasons, it’s possible. Will he do that? I can’t say. But it’s happened in the past. I hope not, though, but it depends on how far you go.”
