Brighton have signed striker Promis David on loan from Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise.
The 25-year-old will replace Danny Welbeck after the veteran England striker moved on Premier League Rival Chelsea earlier in the summer.
Brighton sporting director Mike Cave said: “Promise is someone we have been monitoring for some time. He is a striker with great physical attributes and a proven goal-scoring record.”
“We hope that his experience at international level and in European competition will be valuable this season.
“At 25 years old, he is entering his prime playing years and we are excited to see him continue to develop in our environment.”
David is not related to fellow Canadian striker Jonathan David. In total, he made 82 appearances for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, scoring 41 goals and providing nine assists.
