The Iranian army announced on Sunday that it is offering a reward equivalent to $30,000 to anyone who kills or captures American soldiers, with the reward doubled if it is carried out by a woman.
Iran’s Islamic Republic News Agency quoted Army Commander Amir Hatami as saying that the plan was drawn up after a “large number of requests” to participate.
No known US ground forces were deployed in Iran during the Middle East war, except for the rescue mission of the downed American pilot in April.
Hatami did not provide any details about the place and time when the American soldiers were expected to be killed or captured.
“Anyone who kills, captures and hands over invading American military personnel will receive a reward equivalent to $30,000 or 5 billion tomans from the Islamic Republic of Iran Army,” Hatami said, using an unofficial unit equivalent to 10,000 Iranian rials.
He said: “The brave Iranian woman who does such work will receive double pay.”
Hatami reiterated Iran’s call for the United States to leave the Middle East and said: “They no longer have permission to enter the Persian Gulf, the Gulf of Oman, or the Strait of Hormuz.”
